I’m tired of ‘the nice guy’
The one who’s too busy keeping up appearances
to see anyone else
The one so focused on being ‘NICE’
he’ll forgo the truth for niceness’ sake
The one so clear about not saying ‘the wrong thing’
he often says nothing at all
It’s not anyone’s fault really
Our mothers told us to go for the nice guy
Their mothers told them to be the nice guy
But if neither of us are being ourselves
Is there anything nice about it all?
